National Ice Cream Day
Author: CULTURE Magazine  14/07/2017 - 22:09:00

We’re right smack in the middle of summer and for most states in the U.S., this means sweltering, seemingly unending heat. There are plenty of ways to cool down, many of which are expensive or simply require walking outside. Fortunately, CULTURE has a solution for you: Make your own ice cream at home. It’s inexpensive, requires minimal ingredients, and of course this Sunday is July 16, aka National Ice Cream Day too!

Ice cream is just one of those desserts that never goes out of style, and recently even the cannabis industry has begun to take a slice of that success. Even big ice cream industry moguls Ben and Jerry have even considered producing cannabis-infused ice cream together. It hasn’t happened yet, so until then, we’ve whipped up three sweet recipes for you to chill out with. As always, we recommend a quick lesson in microdosing to make sure you’re using the right amount, and consider using one of these recipes to help you get it right. Stay cool!

Infused Vanilla Ice Cream

1 can sweetened condensed milk

2 cups cannabis-infused heavy cream

2 tablespoons vanilla extract

Mix-ins such as candy, nuts or chocolate chips, 1/2 cup (optional)

  1. Whip heavy cream into stiff peaks.
  2. Fold in condensed milk and vanilla.
  3. Pour into 9×5 loaf pan and freeze.

Infused Chocolate Ice Cream

6 ounces chopped chocolate or chocolate chips

1 can sweetened condensed milk

2 cups infused heavy cream

  1. Whip heavy cream into stiff peaks.
  2. Melt chocolate in microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between sessions to thoroughly melt chocolate.
  3. Pour melted chocolate and condensed milk into bowl. Fold in condensed milk.
  4. Pour into 9×5 loaf pan and freeze.

Infused ‘Magic Shell’ coating

Infused coconut oil

1 cup chips or chopped chocolate

2 tablespoons cannabis-infused coconut oil

Sprinkles for decoration (optional)

  1. Melt ingredients in a microwave at half power for 15-20 seconds at a time, stirring after every turn to avoid burning mix.
  2. Immediately pour over ice cream and cover with sprinkles, if desired. Wait about 30 seconds for the chocolate to harden.
